Perception is interpreted in light of emotions, experience and influences

It occurs entirely in the individual's mind in which can turn any belief into reality.
Like an optical illusion, our mind attempts to fill in the details of something momentarily letting our world be shaped according to our mind programming

The thinking pattern of an individual is directly related to the individual’s attitudes, beliefs and knowledge

Often the way we perceive reality is colored by how we want it rather than simply the way it is. To conflate perception with reality is to reject enlightenment; perception has a potent influence on how we look at reality
Things are not always what they seem, marketers (and artists) rely on this to make us see things and to think in the way they want us to - it is their job to create the illusion of want and need through our emotional desires

If the perception deviates too far from reality when it shifts from mild illusion to delusion (TV, movies, entertainment, etc), it can be a liability. A substantial disconnect between perception and reality can lead people to a complete inability to function without the powerful influence by the standards being imposed

People themselves create their own persona especially today with social media, called personal branding which leaves the potential for us to present a facade of who we actually are.
Its strengths can also be its weaknesses

We compare others online world with our offline world and often feel we don’t measure up. We need to be reminded that our friends are likely comparing their struggles to our bright spots as well, or that some are overcoming or relieving their struggles via their online world
Perception may be controlled by external factors, but reality cannot be controlled by anyone or anything

Realty, is the truth and it refers to the true state of something that may not be realized by individuals easily. The reality is that one must be willing to experience the discomfort often associated with truth if his objective is to achieve positive, long-term results.

Both, perception and reality, play a major role in our life and the individual clever enough with the capacity (to observe the concept) for comprehension have something that reflects the reality itself

It is our perception that shows how we understand the reality, sometimes requiring us to modify if evidence demands it
(rigidity of mind is far worse than being wrong)

It is important to be conscious of our perception, because if we are not, someone else will create it for us

In other words, that other people will always act for the best interest or subordinate their own interests to the needs of someone else, that in it self is being totally out of touch with reality - why then should we desire to be deceived?

You are wise to recognize that sometimes your perceptions can’t be trusted, and must be examined… even challenged

This is where life gets interesting because you shape your own reality through your beliefs. You may or may not have control over the events in your life but you can certainly take control of how to respond to them

Living a happier, fuller, more productive life requires intentional actions on our part and what we focus on
Live and let live, don't assume, compare, judge or try to imitate others because we don't really know what people are struggling with and their reason to do the things they do

Quote for us:

“If the Universe is perceiving itself through us, this would explain why meditation is beneficial to our wellbeing, because when we meditate we see the Universe with more clarity, and are thus being rewarded by it.”
